Day
9:30am Departure or 3:00pm Departure

Meet your beautifully restored vintage Fiat 500 at its home in a Florence garage, once the stables and coach house of a Florentine Palazzo. You will also meet your tour leader who will introduce you to the secrets of driving a car from the 1960’s.

Once you are confident with your Fiat 500, the tour begins! Following the tour leader, and in constant radio contact, we drive through the streets of Florence and in a short time, leaving the city streets behind, we take a cypress tree lined avenue to climb high above the city for some amazing views.

Our first stop is at one of the oldest churches in Florence. There’s time for a quick visit inside and a chance to take some great photos with you and your Fiat 500 with the wonderful backdrop of Florence. Then we set off for a panoramic drive into the hills with a radio commentary, along narrow stone walled lanes, past historic villas and fields of olive trees, making short stops to take photos of the wonderful landscape. If you have been riding shotgun, now is your chance to swap places with the driver and have your turn at the wheel!

Next we have the chance to sit on a private terrace with stunning long views to the Tuscan hills, dotted with villas and castles. While we soak up the scenery we can sample some excellent Tuscan cheeses and ham, with a taste of Chianti wine. After more photo opportunities, it’s time to start back to Florence, taking the most scenic route back to the city. At last it’s back to the riverside to turn some heads as you and your Vintage Fiat 500 become one of the sights of Florence!

Where to Eat
Escape from frozen pizzas or pasta, stay away from mountains of ice cream full of artificial colours. Florence has many tourist traps, but Tuscan cuisine and wines could be one of the highlights of your travel experience. Walkabout has carefully selected local restaurants, by tasting their food to make sure the best ingredients are used.

Shopping

The centre of Florence is heaven for shoppers, and the outlets just out of town have become shopping meccas too. We looked for many little shops selling local fashion designer goods, because top international fashion stores are everywhere in the world. Quality has a price, but we have looked carefully to find the best value for money.

Cafes & Bars
Italians are masters in the art of fine living, and going out to cafes and bars is also the time when you have more chance to mix with locals. Whether you need a coffee break between galleries, or a cocktail after a long day of sightseeing, just consult the Walkabout Guide to find the nearest place to suit your mood.

Tickets
We offer tickets to “skip the line” for museums such as the Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery, bike rentals to pedal around the city, an evening out in the hills above Florence to enjoy traditional food and wine, cooking classes, wine tastings, and of course, our popular tours.
